Komplement
Portable matching table and stool that can be easily assembled and disassembled.
Initial Ideation
I started this project with a few ideation sketches for the form with one goal in mind: to make sure the set could be cut with a CNC Machine and ship as a flat pack. By making the product to be easily cut by the machine would make the product easier to manufacture and ship.
Modelmaking
I made a few models after deciding on the form direction for the chair and stool. Each model is at 1/10 scale made from cardboard, chipboard, or laser cut wood.
Prototyping
I drafted a cut sheet in Adobe Illustrator to CNC cut the full size prototype of Komplement.
I also worked with a Senior Textile Design Student to design and weave fabric for the cushion of the stool.
Final Product
Komplement is set of furniture consisting of a stool and side table with complimentary designs.
Each is made from ¼ inch wood cut on CNC machine for easy manufacturing and can be shipped flat packed.
The set can be easily carried with one of the handles on the product.
The stool’s cushion can be easily removed along with the surface being able to be flipped over to the other side is a person did not want the cushion.
